Bimanual Laryngoscopy
Bimanual laryngoscopy. Direction on neck is opposite direction of lift on the laryngoscope. An assistant then maintains pressure at this location, freeing the laryngoscopist's right hand to place the tracheal tube.
Bimanual laryngoscopy is the most effective and fastest means of improving laryngoscopy- the laryngoscopist reaches around with the right hand, manipulating the larynx externally while directly observing the effect on laryngeal view. After the view has been optimized, an assistant maintains pressure at this location, freeing the laryngoscopist's right hand to place the tracheal tube. Bimanual laryngoscopy is not cricoid pressure and not the same as Backward, Upward Rightward Pressure performed by someone else.
